Who, what, where and why?

Who we are
The Tenant Network is an organisation representing community housing tenants in NSW. We are a non-government, not for profit organisation that works closely with NSW Community Housing Industry Association (CHIA NSW). This is the peak body of Community Housing Providers in NSW. Their mission is to support a thriving community-based affordable housing industry that makes a difference in the lives of low income and disadvantaged households.
Network Membership gives our tenants a voice. Any Community Housing Tenant may join the Network as a general member. Each Housing Provider can have two tenant representatives on the Tenant Network Committee.

What we do
We work towards providing up-to-date news, information and advocacy on matters affecting Community Housing tenants.
We gather and share tenant related news on seminars, forums and functions.
We lobby for and communicate with tenants about changes to relevant tenant and community housing legislation. We liaise with Tenant Advisory Groups (TAGs) and work to carry the message and concerns of TAGs to CHIA NSW and providers. We have contact with and receive newsletters from Shelter, CHIA NSW, NCOSS and The NSW Tenants Union. We publish and distribute a periodical members newsletter.
-
Where we are
Our members are scattered across NSW. A greater number are from in and around Sydney. Some come from regional areas. Our diversity of membership provides a scope and strength of views to understand, disseminate and share valuable information about current industry based and tenant issues.
Our Committee meets monthly online via ZOOM.
-
Why we exist
Our mission is to represent and support all tenants residing in community housing. We hope to make a difference in the lives of tenants and to be free of commercial and political constraints.
We aim to build a representative platform where community housing tenants can be heard.
